Fathers Day Tournament 2008
WOW! What an Event. BFT held its 1st Annual Father's Day Tournament on Sunday June 15th.  All proceeds were donated to the Big Brothers Big Sisters Mentoring Organization

16 teams competed each raising a minimum of $100 as an entry fee to be donated to BB/BS.

15 Year Old With A Big Heart
BFT Academy Member Gideon Wolf wanted to give back. To give back to his community. Gideon despite only being 15 years old recognized that he was a lucky kid. He was lucky that he was a part of a loving family, goes to a good school and is even more fortunate to play tennis 3 to 4 times a week.  Gideon decided he wanted to find a way to help other children that may not be as fortunate as him. He thought what better way to do that then hold a tennis tournament to raise money for a charitible organization.

OVER $4,100 Raised
Each team raised $100 each as an entry fee ... the Wolf family generated another approx $450 in local corporate sponsers ... and the Big Brothers/Big Sisters told the Weinberg Foundation about what Gideon was doing and the Weinberg Foundation agreed to match dollar for dollar the amount the tournament raised! Wow! isn't that awesome. So this first year tennis tournament raised approx $4,100 for the BB/BS Foundation. Not too shabby for a 1st Year Tournament envisioned by a 15 year old, huh?

Fun Was Had By ALL
It really was a fun day. Mostly all teams were formed with dads playing with sons (one father daughter team).
It was a single elimination tournament in which all matches played an 8 game pro set. Every team was guaranteed at least 2 matches.

Member / Staff Orioles Game Outing
On Friday June 13th BFT Director of Membership  Leslie Romero secured 30 club level tickets for BFT members and staff to watch the O's take on the Pittsburgh Pirates.

The seats were GREAT. The Orioles came back from a 6-1 defecit to win 9-6. It was very exciting and the bft crowd (members and staff) really enjoyed teasing leslie as the O's came back (leslie was very loudly rooting for the Pirates early on). A great time was had by All!
